- Community driven open source business models
Roberto makes some interesting points related to qualifying the concept of community driven open source. While I continue to remain a fan of 100% open source, hybrid models can be just as community driven, if not more.
- Linux Foundation prepares for legal conflict
Looks like Microsoft is revving up its patent infringement arm...check out the Jim Zemlin quote where he calls Office and Windows, "the greatest cash cow ever created." Classic.
- Covalent supports Apache Roller
Roller has already proven its stripes as a blog server, blogging has already proven itself as a medium...this might indeed turn out to be a good match when things are said and done.
- Eclipse as fungi
David Berlind sheds light on a neat parallel between Eclipse and fungi, but more importantly he points to the need for JavaFX to tap into the Eclipse community as an enabler. The reality is that Sun is facing off against some pretty qualified offerings in the mobile RIA space and their relationship with Eclipse is going is key to how well they fare therein, i.e. the less antagonistic the better.
