I'm definitely impressed with the Semantic web tie-in for user generated content, that I ran across at the website for Semantically Interlinked Online Communities project. What's currently being witnessed through the explosion of tagging and other forms of mark-ups is the precursor of a more meaningful web of interrelated information, relationships and networks. If markets are conversations then the semantic web is a vehicle for better tying those conversations (and according markets) together into the more cohesive, networked economy. I consider this to be especially relevant to the hundreds of intertwined open source software product/project communities. As improved methods for describing the composition of online communities results in an increase in the capability to add meaning to the numerous discussions and exchanges which characterize the essence of the open source model. Good times all around.
